MC1R is a virtual portrait exhibition by Kaela Speicher Photography. The show seeks to highlight the unique beauty of natural redheads. Research shows red hair usually results from a mutation in a gene called MC1R, which codes for the melanocortin-1 receptor. The portraits have been taken locally in Pittsburgh and around the globe over a series of 5 years. Locations include Norway, Iceland, Italy, and Colorado.

Originally, the exhibition was set to be held in person at Kaela Speicher Photography studio, but covid had other plans. However, the show must go on!
